London Jazz Festival, in association with BBC Radio 3, Friday 11 to Sunday 20 November 2011

Innovative pianist Iyer has brought a thoughtful, farsighted approach to bear on contemporary jazz. The son of Indian immigrants, he is grounded in the American jazz lexicon. Mixing complex Indian polyrhythmic beat cycles, quicksilver improvisation and spider-webbing lyricism, he’s created a unique sound world that the Chicago Tribune attributed to his “keyboard prowess and epic vision”. Recently signed to leading German label ACT he embarks on a new chapter in his creative journey.

The first half of this concert features a beautifully balanced, delicate duet between leading Polish pianist Mozdzer – best known for his impressionistic, classically trained style – and long-standing musical partner and pre-eminent Swedish bassist Lars Danielsson.
